Removal of Brake Carrier –
.Remove brake side rear wheel
.Remove brake side rear hub
.Some axles have a collar fitted which will be butt up against the wheel bearings, remove the two small grub screw
.Spray the whole length of the axle with 20/40 or WD40 ensuring that you spray into the bearing to lubricate the axle, this will allow for easy removal of the axle in the next steps
.Locate and remove all grub screws from the wheel bearings, you may need to remove tape or cable ties to access the screws
.On the brake disc slacken off all the bolds securing the disc to the carrier and slacken off the main disc carrier securing bolt
.Ideally the next steps are best performed with two people, one person should firmly hold the engine side of the axle pulling towards them (outwards)
.The other person should take a rubber mallet and tap the end of the axle knocking it through the bearings, continue to apply further lubricant if required to aid the removal
.As the end of the axle approaches the brake disc carrier be careful that the disc does not drop down onto the floor as it will shatter
.The Brake disc is now free to remove (you do NOT need to completely remove the axle)
