Removal of a steering column –
1.Disconnect both tracking rods from the lower
portion of the steering column
2.Some floor trays have a hole drilled in line with the
bottom of the column, if not you will need to remove the floor tray before continuing to
point 3.
3.Locate the lower nut or Allen Key at the
bottom of column
4.Remove the base nut
or Bolt(depends on kart model using the appropriate spanner (usually 13mm or 17mm)
5.Next locate the Steering column collar fixing
bolt
6.Remove the nut keeping any spacers and washers making
sure you remember what order they were fitted in.
7.Now determine the size of spanners/allen keys required
to undo the upper mounting position bolt, remove bolt, remembering the quantity and order
they were removed in, the steering column is now ready for removal
NOTE - CHECK FOR ANY CRACK TO WELDS OR ANY UNSERVICABLE
DAMAGE
