Removing a stub axle –
1.Firstly disconnect the tracking rod that will
be connected to the stub axle
2.Remember the location and quantity of any
special spacers
3.Determine the size of the nut and bolt
(normally 13mm spanner and 5mm T Bar)
4.Remove track rod end bolt retaining
5.Stub axle will be free to rotate without
moving any of the other steering components
6.Determine the size of spanner required to
remove the main stub axle bolt (Normally 13mm)
7.Known as the king pin bolt, this may be either a hex
head or a cap head which will require an Allen key
8.Undo the bottom nut and remove retaining any washers /
spacers remember the order of removal
9.The king pin is now ready for removal, using a nylon or
rubber mallet lightly tap the bolt so the king pin bolt starts to drift out
10.Careful when removing as there maybe spacers
fitted so remember what order the spacers are in
11.Once the bolt is removed the stub axle will
remove with ease
