Installation of a stub axle
1.Firstly ensure that the condition of the stub axle is
satisfactory and that there are no bends or cracks on the item and that the bearings are
in good serviceable condition.
2.Locate the main bolt, known as the king pin, inspect for
damage, and locate all spacers that you previous removed, remembering the order and position of
the spacers,.
3. Locate the stub axle between the
chassis bracket in one hand,
4. locate the kingpin in to hole sliding
through the chassis so you can just see it protruding,
5. Locate the first stack of desired spacers and push
the king pin further so it picks up the spacers and locates through the stub axle.
6. Once it protrudes through the other end of the
king locate the other stack of spacers and push the king pin through so it picks up the
spacers and protrudes outside the chassis bracket.
7. You can then fit the final spacer if required and
position and tighten the nut using the appropriate spanner, ensuring you do not over tighten
the king pin which would result in pinching the bearings and causing damage,.
8. The stub axle is now fitted
